Ronnie Henry

March 12, 1946 — January 22, 2020

Ronnie Henry, 73, of Amarillo, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with Chaplain Scott Willis officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Ronnie was born March 12, 1946 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Burt and Bernadean Henry. He graduated from Palo Duro High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and did a tour in Vietnam from 1968-1970. Ronnie married the love of his life, Leslie Hulse on March 13, 1982 in Amarillo. He worked for Xcel Energy (formerly SPS) for 39 years, retiring as a construction service working foreman. Ronnie was a simple man who loved the Lord. He was always willing to lend a hand and would do anything for his friends. He was a devoted family man, who enjoyed riding his Harley with his family, and spending time with his grandkids and great-granddaughter. When they made Ronnie, they broke the mold. He was the salt of the earth, admired by many, and respected by all who knew him. He was a hero.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Burt Henry; his mother and step-father, Bernadean and James Palmer; a brother, James Palmer; a sister, Gale Pat Freeman; and two grandchildren, Andrew Henry and Precious Henry.

Survivors include his wife Leslie Henry of the home; a daughter, Ronda Powers and husband William of Sweetwater; two sons, Ronnie Henry, Jr. and wife Crysty of Marmaduke, AR, and Dallas Henry and wife Aisha of Tucson, AZ; a sister, Linda Gielen and husband Marv of Colorado Springs, CO; eight grandchildren, Olivia, Adrian, Sammi, Alyssa, Chancey, Gage, Dallas “DJ”, and Cheyanna; a great-granddaughhter, Auzzi; his beloved dog, Bubbles; and many more relatives and friends.
