Patsy Ruth (Dixon) Martin

Patsy Ruth Martin (Dixon), 83, of Amarillo passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020.

Patsy will lie in state on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 8am to noon at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell Ave in Amarillo. Services will follow at 2pm on the same day in the funeral home’s Pioneer Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson presiding. Burial will take place following the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Interstate 27 and McCorminck in Amarillo. Patsy was born on June 9, 1937 on a farm in Dill City, Oklahoma to Hurl and Odessa Dixon. She married her Jr. High sweetheart Ronald Wayne Martin at age 17. Mr. Martin worked for the railroad which kept them traveling throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas until they settled in Amarillo TX in 1966, with their four children.

Patsy worked in the school cafeteria, as a bookkeeper with TG &Y. She was the secretary for South Georgia Baptist Church, Secretary for a Doctor’s office and before she retired secretary for the family business.

Together Patsy and Wayne raised their children in a Christian Home. She was a parent who was involved with her children. She loved church and working with the youth. She was a big-time basketball fan and the Lakers were her team. She even named her dog Kobe. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought her so much joy.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Charles Dixon and one sister Verna Smith. Her loving husband of 38 years Ronald Wayne Martin, and her son Geary Linn Martin Sr.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Mark Martin Sr. and wife LuAnn Martin, Robert Martin and wife Melissa Martin; daughter Sherry Martin, and daughter in law Tammy Martin. She also leaves her grandchildren Mark Martin Jr., Aaron Martin, Chrissye Jenkins, Geary Linn Martin Jr., Justin Martin and wife Holly, and Abigail Martin; great grandchildren Ashley Martin, Corvin Rimel, Joyce Martin, Jensen Martin, and Reagan Martin.
