Lena Mae Murr Love, 92, of Amarillo died July 26, 2020.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Central Church of Christ, 1401 S. Madison St. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Lena was born June 30, 1928 in Canyon, TX at the home of her maternal grandparents Samuel Riley Morgan and Nancy Louisa Rutledge Morgan to Nolan and Melcena Murr. She lived on a farm west of Amarillo and attended Soncy Grade School, Nixon Junior High and Amarillo High School. After graduating, she met and married Elton Leon Love on April 12, 1947.
Lena was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ and served in ministries including Martha’s Home, Prayer Breakfasts and Loaves and Fishes. She worked as a secretary for Amarillo Community Center, AISD Food Service, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch and San Jacinto Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elton Leon Love; son, Richard Elton Love; grandson, Shane Dressler; great-grandson, Chase Matthew Scott; great great-grandson, Elliott Franklin Scott; parents, Nolan and Melcena Murr; brother, Nolan T. Murr; half brother, Woodrow Murr; and sister, Donna Belle Murr Day.
Lena is survived by Janis Dressler and husband, Larry of Amarillo, Mark Love and wife, Gina of Amarillo; and daughter-in-law, Benona Russell Love of McKinney; grandchildren, Casey Scott and husband, Jonathan, Chris Love and wife, Page, Alison Wyatt and husband, Josh, Jason Love and wife, Kasey, Chad Love and wife, Michelle, Chelsea Smith and husband, Cole and Cagan Love and wife, Sarah; great-grandchildren, Berklee Scott, Kenzie Dressler, Kayden Dressler, Brecken Dressler, Trevor Scott, Jake Scott, Chase Scott, Trey Beecher, Anna Love, Emily Love, Jace Love, Aubrey Love, Adeline Love, Ava Love, Cutter Love, Pier Love, Olivia Say, Sydnee Smith, Ian Smith, Olivia Smith, Lincoln Love, Griffin Love, Austin Wyatt and Tyler Wyatt; and great great-grandchildren, Walker Scott and Halle Scott.
