Lewis Byron Hyman

January 17, 1938 — September 4, 2017

Lewis Byron Hyman, 79, of Troutman, North Carolina formerly of Canyon, died Monday, September 4, 2107.

Services will be 10 A.M. Saturday, September, 9, 2017 at Brooks Chapel with David Lough, minister of University Church of Christ, officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to &00 P.M. on Friday, September 8 at the funeral home.  Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.

Lewis was born January 17, 1938 to Elbert and Lavesta (Saunders) Hyman.  He graduated from Olton High School in 1956.  He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas A&M University in Canyon.  On December 20, 1957, he married Wynee Lee Young, the daughter of Emmett and Valera (Vestal) Young.  They were married at the Joseph A. Hill Memorial Chapel on the campus of W.T.  He owned Professional Landscape Service Company and Appleseeds, Inc. in Amarillo for almost 50 years.  His favorite things were: Ford Racing, West Texas A&M University and Olton, Texas.

Those all pale in comparison to his love for is wife, Wynne Lee and his only child Kym.  Although Wynne Lee preceded him in death 24 years ago, he still talked about her with much admiration and adornment that he and anyone he was talking to would be brought to tears with his devoted love for her.  He was also preceded in death by his parents and in-laws.

Survivors include his daughter, Kym and husband Jeff Nelson, grandson, Nick Nelson all living in Minnesota.  He also leaves behind his sister, Martha Beardon of Olton, and his brother, Leo Hyman of Amarillo.
