Larry V. Tate, 69, of Amarillo passed from this life on Monday, April 16, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 28, 2018 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with his brother in law, John Stratton officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.

Larry was born on November 5, 1948 in Ada, Oklahoma to Willie and Mary Tate. His family moved to La Puenta, CA, where he graduated from high school. He joined the United States Navy in 1966, where he served his country proudly. Larry returned to his job with Ford Motor Company, where he worked as a forklift driver and then as a dispatcher in the Ford Parts Depot until his retirement in 2000. He married Barbara Stratton on September 5, 1984 in Las Vegas. In 2000, he moved with his family from Loma Linda CA, to Amarillo where he worked as a long haul trucker and later driving local runs for J Bar J Trucking. Larry enjoyed baseball and golfing. All who knew and loved him will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Darren Tate and a grandson, Shawn Funderberg.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Barbara Tate; son, Keith Tate; daughter, Sarah Funderberg and husband, David; two grandchildren, Christian Tate and Hayley Funderberg; brothers, Wayne Tate and wife Mariann, and Darrel Tate; sisters, Norma Prince and Billie June Scott; Uncle, Paul Tate and wife Joyce; Nephew, Christopher Tate and wife Summer, close extended family, Jason and LaDenia Jewitt and their children, Matthew and Jennifer Jewitt and Justin and Samantha Edmondson and their daughter, Hannah Edmondson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive guests on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
