Obituary
Janelle Nance Jackson entered heaven's gate on Friday, November 10, 2017, and was welcomed by many loved ones. The celebration of her life will begin with a visitation at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home at 5400 S. Bell, Amarillo, which will be on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. The celebration will continue with services on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M., November 14, 2017 at the Central Church of Christ Chapel located at 1400 S. Monroe Street, Amarillo.

Janelle was born on December 27, 1942 in Amarillo, Texas to M. M. (Doc) and Marie Nance. In 1961 Janelle graduated from Tascosa High School and went on to Amarillo College and West Texas State College, where she received her bachelor degree in Elementary Education. Janelle relished her 36 years with the Amarillo Independent School District, spending most of her years teaching with the staff of Olsen Park Elementary.

During Janelle's college years she was engaged to and married John A. Jackson which was on September 5, 1963. John and Janelle had two children Christopher and Holley.

Janelle loved working with the Women's Ministry at Central Church of Christ. She also loved to cook, had an interest in gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She also loved traveling to the mountains, going on ocean voyages, and cross country motor trips. This is not to mention, the joy of spending time with her grandchildren.

Janelle was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her husband John A. Jackson, her son Chris and wife Sunnie Jackson, daughter Holley and husband Chuck Smith. Grandchildren: Alexandria Morales, Samantha Jackson, Adrian Jackson, Austin Smith, and Reid Smith. Great Grandchildren: Carter Morales and Jayla Johns, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to honor her life, contribute to High Plains Children's Home and Family Services, or a charity of your choice.
