Harry Andy Reeves, 84, of Amarillo, died Saturday, June 10, 2017.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in Covenant Fellowship Church with Stephen Gaines, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Harry was born to George and Cora Reeves on May 12, 1933 on the farm outside of Tulia, Texas. Harry graduated from Tulia High School and then received a business degree from West Texas State University. He served in the United States Army at Fort Carson, CO and then returned home to help with the family Butane business. Shortly thereafter, he founded Reeves Insurance Agency. He was very active in civic activities serving in the Kiwanis Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Tulia ISD School Board (which he was president of for several years) and First United Methodist Church. He was especially proud of chairing the Diamond Jubilee Celebration for Swisher County. Because he chaired that celebration, he was selected Man of the Year in Tulia in 1966. Later in life, he continued to serve his God and was on several committees of Covenant Fellowship in Amarillo, the Amarillo District Council of Ministries and the Invite Team of the Northwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed volunteering with the VA in their transportation services.
Harry was a loving father and husband. He and his wife Velma raised their sons in Tulia. He married Joy Pierce on June 1, 2003 and moved to Amarillo. After their marriage, Harry rejoiced to count Joy’s children and grandchildren as his own.
Harry is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; two sons, Randall and his wife Mary of Lubbock, Texas and Brad and his wife Sherrie of Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Janeane White and her husband Jim of Midland, Texas and Tammi Ward and her husband Pete of Canyon, Texas; six grandchildren, Andrew Reeves, Chrisie Reeves-Pendergrass and her husband Weston, Derek Reeves, Blake Ward and his wife Erica, Nick Ward and his wife Michelle, and Ky White and his wife Amie; and six great-grandchildren, Morgan Ward, Grayson Ward, Emery Ward, Cohen Ward, Tegan White and Samuel Pendergrass.
The family suggests memorials to Covenant Fellowship Church, 8501 S Coulter St, Amarillo, TX 79119.
