Gloria Bentancourt Escalante, 80, of Amarillo, died December 9, 2017.
Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Grant Spinhirne celebrating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Gloria was born on February 21, 1937 in San Diego, Texas to Liberata and Epifanio Bentancourt. She was a homemaker and loving mother of four children. Gloria had a great life here on earth until the disease of Dementia/Alzheimer’s attacked her. She loved to sing and dance. During her last weeks here on earth she would be singing constantly throughout the day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Escalante, Sr. They were married 39 years (April 23, 1956).
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Rocha and husband Jose and Sylvia Olivas and husband Patrick; two sons, Ernest Escalante, Jr. and ex-daughter-in-law Veronica and Victor Escalante and wife Tammy, all of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was living at The Craig, where everyone was good to her. Words cannot express how much we appreciate all you did for our mother these last 3 years. Thank you!
