Edward Earl Boydstun

October 7, 1940 — March 22, 2018

Edward Earl Boydstun, 77, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 22, 2018.

Services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Travis Bennett, Dr. Jim Smith, and Dr. Stan Cosby officiating.  Private burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Edward was born October 7, 1940, in Amarillo to Earl and Vera Boydstun.  He graduated Canyon High School in 1959, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Tech University in 1965.  Edward married Melba Haile on August 19, 1961, in Dumas.

After thirty plus years in the fertilizer industry, he became an independent insurance agent.

Edward loved to fish and was a member of the Gideon’s, and St. Stephen United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years.  He also was a member of the Walk to Emmaus community.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Boydstun, of Amarillo; two daughters, Kari Brock and husband Martin and Mindy Douglass and husband Brad, all of Amarillo; a sister, Kay Reynolds and husband Ronald, of Canyon; five grandchildren, Preston Brock and wife Elizabeth, Haley Garrett and husband Zach, Miller Brock and wife Lauren, Lainey Douglass and fiancé Colby Crawford, and Hunter Brock; and a great-grandchild, Nora Kaitlin Brock.

The family suggests memorials to St. Stephen United Methodist Church Children’s Building Fund, 4600 S Western St, Amarillo, TX 79109; The Gideon’s International Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251; or Golden Spread Emmaus, Community Treasurer, 7132 Adirondack Trail, Amarillo, Texas 79106.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the funeral home.
