Bill Hanks

April 22, 1934 — March 30, 2018

Bill was born on April 22, 1934 in Seminole, OK to Basil and Marie Hanks. He moved to Snider in his youth, graduating from Snider High School in 1952. He then enlisted in the United States Army serving until his honorable discharge after 2 years. He married Yvonne Lewis in Snider. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2006. Bill spent many years working in the oilfield industry and was employed with El Paso Natural Gas, working in Snider, Perryton and Odessa. IN 1973, he moved to Amarillo to begin his career in law enforcement. He was employed with the TABC and later taught TABC sellers training classes. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, horses and reminiscing with old friends. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed many Skipbo and Dominoe games throughout the years with them. Bill was an avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan as well as a devoted member of the Coors Cowboy Club.

He is survived by 2 sons, Kelly Hanks and wife Kim and Knicky Hanks and wife Shana; 2 grandchildren, Shaley Hanks and fiance, Rocky Kenyon and Mandy Mason as well as his great grandchildren, Griffon and Grier, all of Amarillo and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Melba Beatty and his wife Yvonne Hanks.
